Junior/Mid Level Software Engineer - Glasgow (Hybrid)

Tymor Marine is focused on developing our innovative maritime technology. Our products are a mix of an existing proven technology (which we strive to continuously improve) as well as some new cutting edge technology that is both challenging and interesting in equal measure. We are now looking to expand further with Junior/Mid Level Software Engineers that are interested in joining a fast moving company with a start-up mentality.

You will join an existing team of Software Developers, Naval Architects and Engineers where contribution from all is encouraged. All team members make a big contribution to all stages of product development and you will be heavily involved in product decisions as well as traditional coding work. We are an open book at Tymor and want everyone to be as thoroughly involved as possible.

What you will be doing:

  • Improving and maintaining existing applications/web apps in line with business needs
  • Working on greenfield projects that will have a significant impact on the maritime industry
  • Contributing to research projects with external parties as we develop new technology

The ideal candidate will have:

  • >1 yrs professional software development experience
  • Demonstrable experience working on .NET / C# applications
  • An ability to work autonomously, with much creative and engineering freedom. Micromanagement is not a phrase associated with us so you should be able to work off your own initiative and be confident enough to seek input from the wider team when you need it.

What we offer in return:

  • A competitive salary and up to 38 days holiday per year (plus an additional day for your birthday)
  • Pension and private healthcare for you and your family
  • Professional development opportunities with much flexibility in accessing learning content
  • The chance to travel to vessels and installations to see the impact of our software in the real world

Across our existing projects, our core technology stack consists of C#, .NET, Java, PHP(Laravel), SQL and JS.

For this role, we would like you to be based in Glasgow as we look to centralise our development team. Although it is a hybrid position, we recognise the enormous benefits of having that face to face interaction. You will need to have the unrestricted right to work in the UK.

If this is of interest, please send us your CV and a brief covering letter telling us about you, your skills and experience to careers@tymor-marine.com.

No agencies please.

Lead Software Engineer - Glasgow (Hybrid)

If you are a software engineer with 6+ years of development experience and want to work in a start-up environment, but in an established business, we want to hear from you.

Tymor Marine is focused on developing our innovative maritime technology. Our products are a mix of an existing proven technology (which we strive to continuously improve) as well as some cutting edge technology that is both challenging and interesting in equal measure.

The role of the lead software developer is to oversee the software development function of the business. Taking point on technical issues, ensuring that software systems meet industry standards as well as developing and implementing software development workflows and testing frameworks before products are rolled out to clients.

The ideal candidate has broad exposure to full-stack development as our products vary from web applications to standalone desktop programs. Familiarity of working within an agile framework, and leading the software development team’s involvement through the SDLC would be a valuable extra.

Our core technology stack uses C#, .NET, Java, PHP(Laravel), SQL and JS.

Previous demonstrable experience working on and delivering projects in C# is essential.

In addition, the role involves mentoring our other software developers to ensure that their development and careers benefit from being part of our team.

For this role, we would like you to be based in Glasgow as we look to centralise our development team. Although it is a hybrid position, we recognise the enormous benefits of having that face to face interaction. You will need to have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. The ability to travel is important but the essential element is being able to work with and support the existing team of maritime professionals, software developers and sales support.

We offer a competitive salary, up to 38 days of holidays per year (and an additional day off for your birthday), pension and private health care for you and your family. Micromanagement is not a phrase associated with us so you should be able to work off your own initiative and be confident enough to seek input from the wider team when you need it.
